Steps
For each of the Core Elements there are a number of Criteria which each builder must commit to in order to gain planning approval from the Developer.
Guiding Notes are provided to assist builders and home owners meet the Criteria in the form of Design Guidelines. To satisfy the Core Elements each home builder is required to make a commitment to undertake the criteria within their building process - this is done by completing and signing the checklist provided in the Design Guidelines, sending them to the Developer who forward them onto EcoSmart for assessment.
EcoSmart provide an independent assessment by scoring each of the commitments matched against the plans submitted. There are 3 levels that can be achieved; Bronze, Silver and Gold. If the assessment is above the Bronze level, the plans will be passed.
Once passed the home builder will receive a plaque and a certificate to say the plans have met the criteria. To ensure continuous improvement in the home once the home is occupied, a house operation manual is provided to assist householders continue to improve the environmental performance of the home.
Further onsite assessments can be arranged to cross match to ensure the commitments are undertaken.
