Be aware of Fiberglass Batts:
The following quote is from BWG Enterprises Pty. Ltd./Peel Insulation Pty. Ltd.

"The most common material available in batt form is Fibreglass, available in yellow/gold or pink batts. It can be quite an effective insulator, however it is considered to be a dangerous, carcinogenic compound and we do not recommend it to anyone.

Manufacturers in the U.S. are required to state this on their products and it has even been banned in some states.

In Australia fibreglass is less regulated, however the government does not allow this material to be dumped in regular landfills - they must be disposed of by environmental authorities because of the alleged hazards associated with the material.

Clearly this is enough reason to stay away from fibreglass products. For more information on the dangers associated with fibreglass and certain other products,"

"A safe form of batt is the Polyester Batt, and we recommend that if you prefer batts over loose-fill material that you choose these. Polyester has been used for years in clothing and other textiles and is known to be very safe. It is just as effective as fibreglass batts and therefore the more preferred of the two".
